OidoEnVivoBot is the program Oído en Vivo uses to read public concert listings in Colombia. Oído en Vivo is a free guide to live music in the country, made by Carlos Santana and Tecnocratica Services S.A.S. The bot works on their behalf and identifies itself this way in every request:
OidoEnVivoBot/0.3 (Oido en Vivo concert listings, operated by Carlos Santana / Tecnocratica; +https://oidoenvivo.com/bot; ai@tecnocratica.com.co)
What it reads
Public pages only: event listings and event pages, the same ones any visitor sees without an account. It does not buy tickets, does not sign in and does not submit forms on a seller's site. From each event it publishes the listing facts, such as the name, the date, the time, the venue, the artists, the PULEP code and the link to the ticket page.
When and from where
- Once a day, around 11:15 UTC (6:15 in the morning in Bogotá).
- From a single server, at IP address
104.225.221.7.
How it asks for pages
- One request at a time per server, at least one second apart; on most sources, two.
- Each source has a fixed cap on requests per day. When it reaches the cap, the bot stops on that source until the next day.
- It sends conditional requests (
If-None-Match,If-Modified-Since): a page that has not changed answers 304 and is not downloaded again. - On a 429 or a 503 it waits as long as
Retry-Aftersays and tries at most twice more.
The rules it follows
- It reads each site's
robots.txtbefore asking for anything and obeys the rules forUser-agent: OidoEnVivoBotand forUser-agent: *. - If the server does not answer when it asks for
robots.txt, or refuses it with a 401 or a 403, it asks for nothing more on that site. - A 401 or 403 response stops that source completely for the day.
What readers get
Each event on Oído en Vivo links to the ticket page of every seller that offers it, with none preferred. We do not sell tickets: readers buy on the seller's site.
